It is painfully clear that all of our elected officials in Washington have lost their minds. There are some real serious issues facing our Country presently but instead of offering us real solutions, they are proposing nonsense. In "Poly-Tics As Usual Part II", I scoffed at the knuckle headed idea to waive the Federal Gas Tax for the summer. That proposal would lower a gallon of gas by an insignificant 18.4 cents for only three months, which has much more to do with politics than economic help. In Washington there is now a growing movement to curb the use of corn based ethanol fuel as a measure to lower food prices. (Shaking my head) Didn't Congress just pass legislation to mandate increases in corn based ethanol recently? OK, so they have changed their minds, but how is this going to help us? If you increase the supply of corn, you will drive down the cost of corn and corn based products; seemingly a good thing. In turn you will lose the ethanol production and require more oil for fuel, thus decreasing the supply of oil and driving prices even higher. Besides, what the hell does the price of corn have to do with wheat, rice, oranges, or any other commodity? Am I alone in thinking this is just more "feel good" election year propaganda from our elected officials? Here is a crazy idea. Why don't we try planting more corn and other foods. My garden is nearly ready.
