I'm out of time.... A Great old Hall and Oates tune that also describes most of our elected officials today. Our elected officials are awash with wealth and very far removed from the reality of the lives of ordinary people. While you might expect such a thing from royalty, I do not think that it is quite what our Founding fathers had in mind for America. In recent posts like "Save Our Park", I have accused our elected officials of simply not caring about the people. While I am sure this applies to some of our politicians, I wonder if I was just a bit to harsh with that statement. Giving it some more thought, I came to realize that it is not always the case that they do not care, it's that they do not understand. Your Senators and Governors simply have no frame of reference regarding our problems. After all, how can you understand the struggle of a working family living paycheck to paycheck, when you have servants working in your home? How can you understand that gas and food prices are soaring when you do not drive, fill your own tank, or shop at the grocery store? Just take a look at all of the Politicians who jumped on the "gas tax holiday" wagon of BS. That shows you just how out of touch they really are. They feel because they would have saved the people 25 dollars on gas this summer with this crazy idea, that it actually brings us some financial relief. The only thing the "gas tax holiday" accomplishes is that it makes our elected officials sleep better at night in their ivory towers. A recent poll showed that nearly 75% of the people think the gas tax idea is just a political stunt. Need further proof that politicians are out of touch? Did you see Senator Hillary Clinton try to work the coffee machine last week? She needed assistance because she had no clue how to operate that complex piece of technology. How can our rich politicians help us if they have not even poured a cup of coffee for themselves in as long as they can remember?
