Sorry Mates

When I posted the article "Crikey" last Sunday, I was under the impression that the man who imprisoned, then fathered 7 children with his daughter over the past quarter century, was Australian. For that I print this correction and say "sorry mates" to my friends down under. The aforementioned horrible crimes took place in Austria and the story is so bizarre that it warrants an update. The man Josef Fritzl, has confessed to the 24 year imprisonment of his daughter in the basement dungeon and to fathering her seven children, of which only six survived. Local Police think Fritzl may have been plotting the design of his basement dungeon for six years before taking his daughter captive in 1984 when she was just 18 years old. That planning included a half-ton door that guarded the main entrance. In addition, a second entry involving multiple doors was discovered including one made of steel and protected by an electronic code. Questions still loom in my mind about the Fritzl's wife, the Mother of the victim. Police say that she is not a suspect and that Fritzl kept his daughter's 24 years of hell secret from his Wife. According to one TV report, the Mother was told that her 18 year old daughter ran off to join a religious cult but I can't confirm that fact. Still in all, something does not seem to add up. One things for sure, you have to be a sick bastard to look at your 12 year old daughter, then plan, and ultimately execute this atrocity.
