When Life Hands You Lemons

As a father, stories like this make me so damn mad. Mom and dad take their 7 year old son to see a Detroit Tigers Major League Baseball game. Like any other family, they got some snacks to munch on while they watch the game. Mistakenly, the boy's parents bought him a Mikes Hard Lemonade which contains alcohol. A security guard at Comerica Park noticed the boy drinking the beverage in the ninth inning of the game. The guard notified Police who took the boy to the hospital. After examination, the boy was released because no significant alcohol was found in his blood. Despite the fact that Police believed the parents story and he was cleared medically, Child Services came in, swooped up the boy and placed him in foster care. The parents waited days before their son was returned to them. So it was clearly an accident to be filed under @#%$ happens, but the boy was still taken away. If you look at the Mikes Hard lemonade product, it is possible not to notice it's an alcoholic beverage. The sign above the concession at Comerica Park where the beverage was purchased, simply read "Mikes Lemonade. The boy's father is no dummy it was simply an accident. Dad is a professor at at the University of Michigan. Both parents say they have never heard of an alcoholic Lemonade. I want all parents out there to put themselves in the place of this poor family. Imagine that it was your child, frightened and ripped from your care, only to be sent to total strangers. The State has too much power to take your children. Our Government has too much power over our lives period. This is not what our Founding Fathers sought to create. This is not My Grandfather's America.
