The New Keystone Cops

Today's Democratic Party reminds me of the old Keystone Cops films. Remember that bunch of knuckleheads running around and acting all crazy. They have even managed to shoot themselves in the foot on more than one occasion. You have the classic Dems like Al Gore, John Kerry, and Michael Dukakis who are about as two dimensional as one of those old Keystone Cops silent films. On the other end of the spectrum there is the scandal ridden Bill Clinton who is more like an x-rated movie. What I was really thinking about, was how often the Dems manage to snatch defeat right from the jaws of victory. Remember When then Governor and Presidential Candidate Michael Dukakis, hopped into that tank and put that helmet on? He looked so goofy in that tank that it effectively ended his chances of being elected. And Who could forget Gary Hart, another Democratic Presidential hopeful, who dared the press to follow him and prove that he was having an extramarital affair. Well they did follow him and proved he was doing some "monkey business" with Donna Rice. When Walter Mondale was the Democratic Nominee back in 1984, he received a smack down from President Reagan during a Nationally televised debate. Mondale was attempting to make an issue out of the Presidents old age when Reagan said; " I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience." That was game over for Mondale. Then there is Bill Clinton, who's name has become synonymous with scandal. His Presidential legacy was having only the second impeachment trial in U.S. history. Today's Dems carry on in that same tradition. Barack Obama is being torpedoed by his Reverend Wright and has made several highly controversial statements. Hillary Clinton's wild exaggerations and outright lies about her past record, are quickly becoming the stuff of legends. We must not forget important Democrat and former President Jimmy Carter. Apparently his Presidency was not enough of a failure for one lifetime, so now his is wrecking new campaigns by meeting with terrorists. Ah, the good ole Dems. So painful for us when they are in office, but oh so fun to watch.
